A unique combination of over thirty years of training and knowledge as an accomplished sculptor in The Art Bronze (lost wax) casting field. And my thirty year passion and knowledge for collecting fine Woodworking tools and also being a master wood Worker. All of these elements (passions) have Naturally evolved (combined) in bringing You: Darrell Chapnicks PLANE CLASSICS. It is an effort in which I am dedicated to bringing you museum quality (low production run bronze editions) of the rarer more desirable, artistic, esoteric marquee among the metallic planes that were ever produced. I look at these, as functional sculpture not just planes. Some of you will agree that they transcend into Functional art and thats why I am here to bring you just that. Plane classics will focus on the small New England companies (which were mostly Connecticut based) which manufactured these planes in the latter half of the nineteenth century and early 20th century during the industrial revolution. I literally live within a 5-20 mile radius where most of these great Connecticut plane manufacturers existed and flourished! What a great historical backdrop and inspiration it is for me! At Chapnick Plane Classics Nothing is Mass produced! Nothing is cranked out in mass on Production CNC Machines like your so called Heirloom tool manufacturers of today (LOL!). All work is done in Connecticut by hand just like it was done 100 years ago! From the castings to the hand Machining, to the final pain staking hand polishing! (No two are exactly alike). American made by hand from beginning to end, to the very highest quality standards at VERY affordable prices! Our making these planes available allows both the collector, historian, and fine craftsman not just the opportunity to own these beautiful and rare planes, but to actually use them also. Which is after all what they were originally made And intended for(and at a mere fraction of what a beat up original would cost!)Please keep checking back from time to time as I will be coming out with more great stuff!Thank you....Darrell Chapnick....Plane Classics..1995 & 2006 all rights reserved.
